2nd Year of Free Meals Improves Surrey Students Performance

For two consecutive years now, students from LA Matheson and Senator Reid had been enjoying nutritious meals before the day starts. The Surrey School District is BC’s most populated district with one-hundred twenty-five schools and over 70,000 students. Thirty-six of the educational institutions are designated as inner city – where there is a population of vulnerable students with high needs. A lot parents can’t provide breakfast or lunch to their kids. This is where Children’s Joy Foundation comes in. Thanks CJF’s donation, the kids are able to eat nutritious breakfast and lunch.

What the Thankful Parents Have to Say

It is hard for me to provide a good breakfast for my kids. Healthy food can be expensive and I can’t always give them such food. With breakfast club in the morning, they have so many choices to eat healthy and to eat until they are full. It is something they look forward to each morning. Without it, I don’t really know what I would do, so I am very thankful.
I notice my daughter has increased focus and concentration since being part of the Lunch Program. Her performance and attitude at school has improved.
